In Animal Crossing[the city one] I have tried raising my environment grade by planting trees, and planted well over 100, but it has not changed at all. Does anyone know how to improve it?

Plant way more, keep planting until you are told that you have too many trees.
Then cut one down and you will have just the right amount. Almost every acre has to have a decent amount of trees, so don't overdo it in any one acre.
And once that's done adding flowers helps. About three flowers per acre is good enough :)

The more flowers the better. Town Hall will tell you when you need more or less trees or greenery- A.K.A. flowers. Hybrid flowers will attract rare bugs. You can either trade for hybrids over Nintendo WFC or make them yourself by placing two flowers of the same kind, preferably in different colors in a clear area diagonal from each other.
