Does it look bad if you take the SAT multiple times (say, 2 or 3) if you're applying to Harvard?

or some top colleges along those lines?

I'm taking it this year as a freshman (i'm forced to) and I dont think i'll do good, so my guidance councelor told me to retake it, but i heard it looks bad if you're applying to say Harvard or Stanford or other big schools like the ivies. Also, can you CHOOSE what SAT score gets to go on college application (also, are you the one doing you college app or your school? are you the one who sends it in?) like if you score a 1660 your first time but get a 2300 your second time, do you get to choose what score you send it? or do you send every one of them? or do differ schools require all scores? tell me how it workss!

also, if youre the one sending in your college app can you change around your grades (if you ahd a low gpa saw for one of your semesters) can you?

Your scores will be send directly from the testing agency. Some schools allow you to use 'score choice' to send the scores you want, others just want them all. Taking the SAT over and over doesn't look good to any school, but twice is pretty standard. Just remember that your score doesn't automatically keep going up. Your school will send your transcripts, or seal them and let you send them. No, you can't change them.

I've took my first SAT as a freshman too. I'm also going to take it my Sophomore and Junior years. It doesn't look bad to colleges that you've taken it more than once. If anything it shows you're dedicated. I think College Board (the company that produces the tests) sends your tests automatically to the colleges you apply to. The college takes the best score. So if you made a 1660 and a 2300 they would take the 2300.
NOPE! They like to see that you do not give up! You can choose the best out of each time you took it! They like to see improvement!:) Best of luck! :) Most schools just want the Math and the Writing ( not the one with the essay)

don't give up
i guess
Well make sure u DO NOT take the SAT more than 3 times. It makes u look pretty bad if u take it more than 3 times. Yes, you get to choose what SAT scores u want to send to Harvard (I'm applying too). Some college like UCLA require all the scores though. You are the one doing the college app but remember that some of the form requires your counselor to fill out and you need two teacher recommendations. So when u fill out a request to send out your transcript, your recommendations and preparatory form should be sent out together (this way is a lot easier). Then u would fill out the online application and supplemental part online and turn it in by the due date (Jan. 1st for Harvard). No u cant change grades cuz it's on ur transcript which is sent out by the guidance office.
