I am 14 and i wish i can start ballet dancing?

i'm a 14 y/o girl. and i really really want to start ballet. is it too late? it feels like it. i started before when i was 4 but only went for a few wekkes then stop. what do you think? i am already having a busy schedule here with school, school activities, piano lessons, art classes, sunday school. and i heard ballet lessons cost a lot, i'm not sure about my parents. and i'm 14!!! it going to be terrible. i'll have to work with the little kids of 4 to 6 and i'm going to be the only 14 year-old in class. so..... EMBARRASSING! abut oh dear, i really want to dance....

here are a few questions:

do you think i can try it? after all those problems up there?

how long do classes last, how many times a week?

how much do they cost?

how long do you need to change your shoes. i mean, how long does one pair last? and how much do they cost?

if i 'll start at grade one, then can i skip grades? like try to catch up with other 14 y/o's?

how will the exams be?

DO YOU THINK I SHOULD GO FOR IT?

There is another factor you did not consider...How big are you? (Height and weight) Most ballerina's are not very big. (Under 5'2%26quot; adult height) Anyone can learn to dance at any age ( and you will not be put in a class with 6 year olds, but in a teen or adult beginners class), but it takes years to become a pointe ballerina. Apparently Princess Diana wanted to pursue a career in dancing, but at 5'10%26quot; and 155 pounds, she was told that she was bigger than almost all male dancers, and was WAY too tall to ever be a ballerina.

They don't give exams in dancing school. Shoes are purchased either as you outgrow them or they are worn or you switch from soft to hard (pointe) shoes.

Lessons can range from $25 to $65 a class session (45 or 50 minutes)

well.....i loved dance....and i miss it sooo much.......i had knee surgery and had to stop......but they lasted about 1-2 hours....longer when it got close to competition or recital time....its really hard to balance everything and keep your grades up.......and you probobly have a few classes every week......but they cost quite a bit.....but if you really want to......you really dont have to change your shoes that often.........but you probobly wont skip grades unless your like really good.......if you really want it you should go for it!
i was in your situation a few weeks ago i'm 14 too! i thought i would be with young children too but im not! i'm with people the year below me i don't mind because there really funny. starting ballet is fantastic, i love every lesson.it's not very expensive like 拢4 a lesson but it does vary. i am with people who have been doing it a long time, but there are some new ones too, i am picking it up quickly. START IT IT IS AMAZING!!!!
Totaly go for it when i did ballet for 2 years i was slightly older than everyone else dont be worried just aim for what u want go try if u dont like it u can easyly quit

its not to late! I didnt start til like I was 12 almost 13. Now im 14 and Im starting pointe this summer! Instead of starting with 4 to 6 year olds ask your studio if they have a 'teen' ballet class because thats what I did for my first season. Now im at a pre pointe level w/ girls like 11-14 ! Classes are usually an hour. Its up to you how many classes a week. If your serious about it and looking to get really good i'd say atleast 3 per week. If your just doing it as an extra fun thing then you can just take 1. GO FOR IT GIRL! :] lol hope I helped!
I think you should try it if you think you can do it. I mean, the other activities you have listed up there seem like a lot already but dance has been very rewarding and fun for me. I started at 13 so i think it is okay to start now. And you dont HAVE to work with the little kids. There should be other people just like you that want to dance now but are not 4-10 years old anymore. Check with the front desk and ask them what classes they have, also check the prices with your parents too.
If it is something that you love and you want to do all the time, then go for it. But you have to be very dedicated to dancing. I'm sure they will not put you in a level with kids 4-6. They will probably put you with your age, or a class below your age. (only since you are just starting dance)

Classes vary between academies, my ballet classes are about 1 hour and 45 minutes. Except on Saturday i am there till 10-12:30. And the cost also varies on the academy's.

Depending on what brand of ballet shoes you get they normally cost somewhere under $20. I would most defiantly get CANVAS SPLIT-SOLE ballet shoes. Do not buy the leather ballet shoes, they crack and are very UN-attractive. And do not get a full sole ballet shoe, it does not show off your arch at all.

I'm sure that if you work hard and try your best then you will move up very fast. (but I'm almost positive you will not be in the 4-6 year old class) Good Luck!!! :]
im 13 and started grade 2 ballet about 2 weeks ago and it costs 拢5.20 and i do one lesson i am with 7/8 year olds .

you do have quiet a busy schedual but just look for a place then ask your parents

shoes last ages if you dont do loads of lessons a week it pointe shoes that dont last bacause there the ones in which you go on your toes in and they get worn away easilly.
